Projects The Free Fruit Project allows each child at the ten Lean East primary schools to enjoy a free piece of fresh fruit or vegetable each day at school. The project is an extension of the Government's daily free fruit schemes which currently provide fruit to children in Key Stage 1. As part of this scheme, the Key Stage 2 fruit is supplied by local not-for-profit organisation Food Chain North East. Each child also receives a free third of a pint of local organic milk from North East firm Acorn Dairy each school day. These projects are managed by East End Health, a community-based charity whose aim is to tackle health inequalities.
